POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Employment Adviser

Responsible to: Manager (JOBMATCH)
Supervises: N/A
Award : Northcott Award.

KEY OBJECTIVE OF JOBMATCH
JOBMATCH supports people with disabilities to locate and maintain employment in the open labour market in accordance with the requirements of the Disability Services Act (1993) and the Disability Service Standards.
JOBMATCH supports young adults move from school to achieve their goal to transition to work, through the provision of, pre-employment training, work experience provision, independent living skills and support to access vocational education and training.
KEY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
To assist people with disabilities to locate and maintain employment by providing pre-employment, post employment and employment maintenance support.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
· Current Drivers Licence
· Relevant Tertiary Qualifications and/or previous work experience in this field.
· Computer Literacy : (proficient with Microsoft suite, Excel and database administration)
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
· An ability to deliver pre- vocational training, individual on the job training and support.
· Knowledge of the Disability Service Act, 1993 and the Disability Service Standards.
· An ability to problem solve, manage conflict and negotiate solutions.
· Knowledge of recruitment and general employment related issues.
· Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
· Well developed organisational skills.
· An ability to work effectively within a team environment.
· An ability to communicate in both a verbal and written capacity.
· An ability to support clients in a variety of employment environments.
· An ability to liaise with employers and negotiate employment conditions which meet the individual support needs of clients.
· An ability to travel to work environments according to individual client needs.
· An ability to support clients from a CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) background.
· Administration skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop with clients Individual Employment Plans (IEP’s) that reflects informed choices made by the client.
· Provide vocational counselling on employment opportunities to ensure that job matches reflect preferred employment choices of clients.
· Encourage clients’ active participation in their job search process by providing direction and information on the job search process including scanning newspapers, contacting employers as well as accessing external agencies.
· Deliver pre- vocational training to clients regarding resume preparation, interview skills and presentation and living skills.
· Providing information and support so that clients can access appropriate external vocational training courses to enhance their employability.
· Assist in establishing and maintaining a documented network of employers.
· Locate and negotiate employment opportunities by canvassing, responding to advertisements, linking with mainstream recruitment services and other strategies.
· Liaise with relevant specialist services to assess the proposed worksite in terms of access, safety and health issues.
· Conduct a job analysis in terms of position (if appropriate), environment analysis of the worksite and evaluation of quality aspects of the position.
· Provide vocational training and support at the worksite to the level required by the individual and the position.
· Liaise with co-workers and supervisor at each worksite to ensure the successful placement of a client.
· Liaise with families and or advocates when required.
· Negotiate for a level of productivity and quality that is satisfactory to employer and client.
· Conduct follow up support to client and employer as required.
· Attend to administrative tasks and maintain all required documentation for JOBMATCH.
· Work in a team to achieve team objectives.
· Promote a positive image of service to the employers, community and clients.
· Undertake staff development to acquire and enhance knowledge and skills relevant to the service.
· Provide practical assistance to clients as required to maximise independence.
· Work within the procedural guidelines of The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and the Department of Ageing, Disability and Homecare.
· Be aware of, and adhere to Northcott policies and procedures, in particular, the Code of Conduct and Ethics, EEO, and Prevention of Harassment.
· Comply with, report on and actively participate in Northcott’s Safety and Injury Management Procedures and Northcott’s OH&S Procedures.
· Comply with, Northcott’s policies on Privacy, Dignity and Confidentiality.
