Ben's Building a Database at the Lupus Association
It is estimated that 1 in 700 people in Australia have lupus, a chronic, incurable autoimmune disease. Ben Gosling has taken up the challenge to help the Lupus Association members by collecting data on businesses and neighbourhood centres to promote fundraising and awareness respectively.
The Lupus Association is a community based counselling and advocacy service with over 1100 members throughout Australia. They provide an information and counselling support service for those who have recently been diagnosed as well as those who have been living with lupus for some time. The vision of the Lupus Association of NSW is to work towards a world without lupus and associated connective tissue diseases through support, education, awareness and research into a cure.
Ben has been working at the Lupus Association for almost 13 weeks and has the highest approval of the Executive Officer, Ben Jackson.
“Ben is doing a great job, he is diligent, he is punctual, he asks questions if he is unsure, he is flexible and a joy to work with”, said Jackson.
Ben has spina bifida which decreases his mobility. He gets around short distances by walking but over long distances he needs to use a wheelchair.
“Disability hasn’t affected Ben’s work at all. He finished his first two projects so quickly we have had to create a new project for him. He’ll be computerising our library next! Ben also communicates well, which is a real bonus in any employee, as it is easier to set expectations and have a two way exchange of what he is confident or not so confident doing”, said Jackson.
The Lupus Association is proud to be a partner of Jobmatch. “Jobmatch have provided me with a quality staff member, I wish all recruitment was this easy”, said Jackson.
