Jobmatch is a free specialised employment and Transition to Work service, operating as a division of Northcott Disability Services. Jobmatch staff are specialists in providing support to people with a disability.

The Transition to Work program offers clients a two year program to develop pre-vocational skills in order for the client to become job ready. The majority of our clients attend TAFE or University, attending part-time, full-time or a discreet course; it is all individualized depending on the client. If possible we attend enrolment day with the client to ensure the supports and networks with disability consultants are made on initial contact. As the client learns at TAFE we work with clients to develop job-related skills and knowledge. In each TAFE holiday we host a Work Preparation Course which covers such topics as What is work, Superannuation explained, Interview skills, to name a few. With permission from our clients, we will maintain contact with the disability consultants at their training institute to monitor the student’s progress and to gain valuable feedback.

A meaningful work experience placement is an important part of a client’s program. Jobmatch will assist the client to locate the work experience and provide on the job support during the placement. We endeavour to find a work experience placement that will compliment the learning taking place at TAFE.

At any time a client can nominate to start looking for paid employment, or the Employment Adviser can talk to the client about looking for paid employment. This most commonly occurs when they have finished training or TAFE or University, or have completed work experience and participated in Jobmatch’s Work Preparation Course. Jobmatch will work alongside the client to find employment by jobseeking through newspapers, internet and marketing to potential employers. If modifications are needed at the work site Jobmatch can assist by accessing government funding to pay for this. Jobmatch can also negotiate with the employer what reasonable adjustments are needed for the client to successfully maintain employment.
